Hello my friend. I’m Sharon Webb, the Owner and Wedding & Event Planner for Sharon Webb Events. I live in Winkler, Manitoba, and am a fully certified Wedding Coordinator and Destination Wedding Coordinator through the Wedding Planners Institute of Canada.
Who doesn’t love planning, right? At least that’s what I always thought. As I found myself planning parties, trips and vacations for family & friends, I quickly realized how much I loved planning and organizing, but to much of my surprise, others didn’t. As they would get stressed and overwhelmed, I got excited and became full of life! Then it was revealed to me – I was created to plan, organize and serve, and that is how Sharon Webb Events evolved. I am writing my own story as I serve others, whether it’s helping plan a wedding celebration, celebrating someone’s life, putting on an event, and anything in between. At the core of it all is an opportunity to help someone, and that is my happy place!
Although it started off as a happy place, it became an unhappy place (amazing how that can happen!). I poured myself into every event, but overtime I hit burnout. The chase for success, trying to be everything to everyone, combined with a personal life that demanded more of my time, I eventually came undone. It was time to re-evaluate my life’s purpose.
I decided to take a much needed personal break, which led me to a social media unplug. I battled whether or not I was going to continue SWE or put it to rest. I discovered that I am more than the sum of what I do. Although I plan weddings and events, it is not where I find my identity.
After a much needed break, I began finding a new passion for weddings again, but with a few tweaks. I decided that if I was going to continue SWE, I needed to stay true to myself.
I have come to realize that what I love most about weddings is the love story that flows through the wedding and into the marriage. I am a hopeless romantic, but also a realist. Our society has gotten distracted with beauty – focused on the image of the wedding, rather than the reason for the wedding. This distraction can cause financial and relationship strain, which isn’t a good start to a thriving marriage. This led me to a passion for weddings with a ‘less is more’ approach.
My vision is to bring weddings and minimalism together. I believe that couples can get married without all the extra fluff, expenses and stress, while still having a beautiful wedding. Using a minimalist approach provides couples financial freedom and a focus on what really matters – the marriage. There are many creative ways to do this, and that is the fun part!
LOVE. I have been married to my husband Sean since 2000. What I’ve learned so far is that a thriving marriage is no easy task, but it is definitely worth the perseverance.
CHILDREN. We were unable to have children of our own, but we have been so blessed with many kids that we love as our own. Infertility has been a challenging journey; when accepted, it can bring a couple into a new life that is full of adventure. My hope is that other couples on a similar journey can find this place of acceptance; this is where freedom and healing is found.
PASSIONS. Faith + Family + Friends + Travel + Helping Others. I love the sun, dark chocolate, red wine (and mimosas), a good Spotify playlist and quality conversation. Preferably all at the same time!
